Sellen Construction is a locally owned and operated commercial builder. Founded in 1944 and headquartered in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle, Sellen builds iconic projects for the region’s tech, science, arts, health care and hospitality leaders. We believe in building community by creating unique spaces where significant things happen, and in giving back to non-profit organizations that make our community a great place in which to live and work. Sellen operates primarily in the Pacific Northwest and offers a wide range of services from preconstruction support, cost estimating and constructability services, to Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), integrated project delivery and sustainability services. Sellen has a Special Projects group that regularly performs renovations and tenant improvements in existing buildings for a variety of office and health care clients. Sellen’s notable projects include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Campus, Seattle Children’s Hospital Building Hope Expansion, the Museum of History and Industry at South Lake Union, King Street Station Restoration, and the new Amazon office towers in Seattle’s Denny Triangle neighborhood.

We're closing out the week with our final award-winning project from NAIOP Washington State's Night of the Stars Gala: the Seattle Storm Center for Basketball Performance, which received the Judges' Choice - Icon Award. ?? The new facility, designed by ZGF Architects and Shive-Hattery, serves as the dedicated practice facility for Seattle's four-time champion WNBA franchise. As the first ground-up facility built specifically for a WNBA franchise, the new building represents an unprecedented investment in elite women athletes and underscores the rapid growth of women's sports nationwide. In alignment with the Storm's vision for the project, women comprised 85% of the project management and design team, and more than 40% of the subcontracted scope was performed by women-owned and diverse-owned subcontractors and suppliers. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this iconic new space!

?? Today, we're putting the spotlight on another award-winning project from NAIOP Washington State's Night of the Stars Gala: Station Space at King Street Station! The project received the Community Impact Development of the Year award. Located on the second floor of the historic King Street Station, this refreshed space is home to five youth-centered arts organizations: Totem Star, Rhapsody Project, Red Eagle Soaring, Whipsmart, and the Jackson Street Music Program. The project was designed by Side x Side Architects. These five organizations each have a 60-year rent-free lease at Station Space. This assured stability will help these organizations concentrate on nurturing and mentoring young artists for many years to come.

?? ?? ?? Three Sellen projects were named as winners at NAIOP Washington State's Night of the Stars! We'll share more on each project throughout the week. First up: Microsoft's East Campus in Redmond. We are honored to have worked with Microsoft and its partners to build the award-winning East Campus in Redmond. The campus has been named the Sustainable Development of the Year at the 2024 Night of the Stars Awards event, hosted by the NAIOP of Washington state. The NAIOPWA Night of the Stars program recognizes the best commercial real estate projects in the state. ? The new East Campus reflects Microsoft’s commitment to employees and the Puget Sound community. It is designed to enhance productivity and create optimal spaces for hybrid work, thoughtfully built with a focus on sustainability, accessibility, wellness and fostering community. Congratulations to the team who made this innovative project possible!
