This week we are hosting our annual Thanksgiving Harvests ?? bringing together staff across four locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. Our staff brought their favorite holiday dishes to share, including empanadas, fried chicken, pasta, pie, and of course, turkey! Last Wednesday, Selfhelp joined Councilmember Hudson and others at New York City Hall to rally in support of Age in Place 2.0. Joined by staff and members from two Older Adult centers, we advocated for Bills that support older adults aging with dignity in the city they love. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the Councilmembers who stood with us: Hudson, Gutierrez, Schulman, Joseph, Williams, Sanchez, Narcisse, Krishnan, Bottcher, Lee, Won, and many more. A Hero's Story ?? Today we're sharing Philip's story, a late-home care patient of Selfhelp, whose courage and heroism during World War II left an indelible mark on history. As a veteran and lieutenant tank commander in the Allied Forces, Philip showed immense bravery and compassion. This Veteran's Day, we honor all Veterans and thank them for their sacrifice to protect the freedoms that we hold dear.
