Shout out to Kiva and their 1+ million worldwide members who have loaned more than $2 billion (typically in $25 increments!) to "expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive." SELF (Solar and Energy Loan Fund) is a longstanding "KIVA Field Partner" in North America, which enables us to post local clients to their worldwide crowdfunding platform. Kiva crowdfunded loans offer very low interest rate loans to individuals with poor credit! Make a loan, change a life! SELF posted a special senior client yesterday morning, Diana from the City of Clearwater, Florida, who was impacted by Hurricane Milton, and in less than 48 hours, we were able to raise $3,175 from 79 individuals and 30 KIVA teams, including SELF's "Mighty Green Team". Diana will receive a hurricane recovery loan of $3,175, with 5% fixed interest rate and 5-year term. For more information about SELF's work with Kiva, please contact Christine Papke. Earlier this month, our team attended the ribbon cutting ceremony as two families moved into new, energy efficient, affordable homes in West Park, Florida! Developed by nonprofit developer, @Kinetic Lifestyle homes, SELF provided a full 100% financing package to help limit expenses through our SAGE program that primarily serves novice and BIPOC developers. Construction of the two homes began in May 2024 and were completed on time and under budget in October of 2024. The impact of this project go beyond providing affordable, energy efficient housing; two families will also now begin to build generational wealth.
