How it all started: Seirus grew out of 2 guys intent on creating solutions to issues that limited the winter experience of the outdoor enthusiast. One looking to help preserve the boot/binding compatibility for more predictable release while skiing. Thus Cat Tracks were born, which also make for a more comfortable & secure walking experience on winter surfaces. And the other wanting to shield his chops during frequent forays into that sweet Utah powder. Viola, the Original Masque was born. While neither of these young outdoor entrepreneurs ever imagined one day these pocket sized, self-fashioned gems would actually put food on the table, they were ambitious & eager to take their new inventions to the market. Flash forward 3 decades and families of products are thriving and engineered to keep you warm like no one else. Now over 300 cold weather protection items and a burgeoning crop of sun protection products are the fruit of the combined imaginations of Seirus' development team, striving to bring both comfort and protection to al of us who love the snowy outdoors. Seirus has been the industry's major innovator & first to market for products to protect the head, hands & feet.

The main goal? Supporting the NBS Olympic Scholarship Fund, which supports athletes of color reach their winter sports dreams. At Seirus, we're all about boosting participation and promoting diversity in the industry. Their dedication to sharing stories of resilience and leadership is truly commendable. Join us in honoring Mike's inspiring legacy and the transformative influence he continues to foster!
On Feb. 3, 2008, Mike Carey made history just by walking onto a football field. On that day in Glendale, Arizona, Carey became the first Black referee in a Super Bowl – and it happened to one of the most iconic games in NFL history. In Super Bowl XLII, New York Giants famously stunned the New England Patriots, 17-14, keeping New England from finishing a historic 19-0 season. And Carey was there to see it all unfold. “I’ve always just liked doing what I want to do, and doing it to the best of my ability, all the while knowing that it’s just not for me. I’m carrying so many more with me,” Carey, now 74, told CNN. Although he’s now retired, Carey said he still feels a sense of euphoria when he watches a televised football game – and he looks forward to watching the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII. But being on the field is an experience unlike any other, Carey said, and it leaves a lasting impression. “That feeling of that much human emotion, that loud – especially when a game is close – it is a euphoria that only players and officials and coaches really know,” he said. “Every second on the field is really heaven.”
