In the latest release of the West Michigan Current Business Trends Report, local purchasing managers suggested signs of growth for the region. Economist and author of the report, Brian Long had this to say: “In this month's report, we got some good news from our West Michigan index of employment, which bounced back to positive. Congratulations to the team of Jonathan DeBruine, Dylan Fritz, and Makensey Massey for their first place finish in the Nov. 2 RMA Competition. The team emerged victorious against 11 other teams from six different colleges and took home $3500 in prize winnings. The Challenge pairs student teams with commercial banking mentors.?The mentors educate the students on aspects of commercial lending.?The teams are provided with a case to analyze on their own and then present two analyses to the judges without the assistance of their mentors.? The team reflected: "We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of analyzing the case to create a proposal and structure that would satisfy both the bank’s risk mitigation requirements for facility approval and the client’s needs and requests. Striking the right balance between giving and taking to satisfy both parties, and then organizing it into two concise, ten-minute presentations tailored to each party, was both challenging and rewarding. Taking the reins in a position many of us aspire to hold someday was an invaluable experience, and we are all very grateful for the opportunity to have participated in the 9th Annual RMA Lending Challenge.” Congratulations on a job well done! #experienceseidman #gvsu
