Capturing the potential of small beginnings.

关于我们

Seeding Justice is Oregon's leading funder of social change organizing. Supported by hundreds of donors throughout the state, Seeding Justice strengthens Oregon's social justice movements through grantmaking, organizing, and capacity building. Seeding Justice's participatory grantmaking program cedes decision making power to those most impacted by injustice. Our activist grantmakers award over $500,000 each year to grassroots groups advancing social, racial, economic, disability, gender, and environmental justice, with an emphasis on seed funding and support for emerging groups.

Climate action can’t wait. There's only 4 days left to tell the DEQ why environmental justice matters. Seeding Justice has funded environmental work since its founding in 1976, from up-and-coming grassroots organizations to large-scale, region-wide community funds. Together with our partners, Seeding Justice has been involved in the creation of Oregon’s groundbreaking Climate Protection Program to provide tens of millions in investments each year into green energy projects for the state’s most harmed communities. Learn more about the program and how to submit a comment today. Comment submission deadline is THIS FRIDAY at 4 p.m. https://lnkd.in/gvM-uqit

As foundations wait on federal DAF legislation, some are taking matters into their own hands – and taking back control from donors. Check out the latest story in our Unlocking Abundance series with Magic Cabinet, exploring the future of DAF reform. This piece by Kaila Philo features the work of organizations like Seeding Justice, Possibility Labs, Amalgamated Foundation and RCF Connects (formerly Richmond Community Foundation) that are self-regulating their DAF accounts to ensure they live up to standards of transparency, accountability and equity that current regulations don’t require.

People, Culture, & Organizational Development Executive | Igniting Potential, Transforming Culture

The City of Portland "We Are Better Together" Outreach team had a great time coming together to support Seeding Justice, Justice Within Reach Gala this weekend! Seeding Justice exist to build collective power at the frontlines of social change by transforming philanthropy in the pursuit of justice and liberation for all communities. They fund grassroots movements working to dismantle injustices that have harmed our communities and planet for far too long. They support emerging organizations and change makers on the frontlines fighting for social, racial gender, disability, economic, and environmental justice. Since 1976, Seeding Justice has been the leading funder of social change organizing in the Pacific Northwest. Just last year, we granted over $22 million to our communities—comprising 44% of what Seeding Justice has granted out since our founding 48 years ago! This was a bold and inspiring celebration of the joy, resilience and love in our communities and movement. Great job Executive Director Se-ah-dom Edmo and team!

From wildfires to deadly heat waves to record-breaking droughts, Oregonians are feeling the impacts of our rapidly changing climate. No matter what we look like or where we come from, we all want our families to have the freedom to drink clean water, breathe clean air, and live in healthy communities. We can start today. Join us. This Earth Day, Seeding Justice is launching the Oregon Community Climate Investment Fund. Black, Indigenous and people of color; youth and elders; and people with low incomes, who live in rural areas, or who live with disabilities, have been disproportionately impacted by climate change. That has to stop. We believe the leadership of those who face the steepest barriers will generate the best solutions, so we’re eager to learn what projects our communities think are most urgent. We can’t do this work alone. We’re partnering with foundations, businesses, and individuals to raise the necessary funds and expertise. Join the movement. https://www.occifund.org/
