Unlocking sustainable energy access for the Global South ?? Excited to share an animation I recently created in collaboration with Loughborough University and International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) on the Energy Delivery Models (EDM) approach. This project highlights the critical role of innovative energy solutions in scaling access for communities across the Global South, ultimately accelerating a just and inclusive clean energy transition. ? Why Energy Delivery Models Matter The EDM approach is a systematic, problem-solving framework that tailors energy solutions to meet local development needs. It combines energy services with broader support to drive a “win-win” of poverty reduction and climate action—empowering communities with: - Green jobs and enhanced livelihoods - Community resilience and climate adaptation - Social inclusion, equality, and ecosystem protection By rethinking how energy services are designed and implemented, the EDM approach addresses financial, social, and environmental sustainability, enabling NGOs, governments, and social enterprises to drive real impact. ?? Bridging the Knowledge Gap Scaling access to energy requires innovative thinking to integrate energy solutions with holistic development efforts. This project sheds light on new ways to plan and implement services, empowering communities and building resilience in a warming world.
