?? How can schools proactively support student wellness while also preventing potential safety threats? ?? Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management is a research-backed approach that helps schools identify and address concerns before they escalate. But what does it look like in action? In our latest blog, we explore how BTAM works, why it matters, and how schools can implement it effectively by overcoming the most common challenges teams face: https://lnkd.in/e4CGDwNk #SchoolSafety #StudentWellbeing #StudentWellness #BTAM #K12 #K12Schools

?? Banning cell phones in schools doesn’t mean digital distractions disappear entirely; it just shifts where and when they occur. When personal devices are removed from classrooms, early data suggests students turn to school devices instead. That brings new challenges for educators trying to maintain focus and engagement. At Securly, we believe the right technology - used with the right intention - can help create distraction-free learning environments, all while balancing student privacy and digital safety. What happens when cell phones are banned in the classroom? This morning Jonathan Haidt asked a broader #edtech question that I’ve been wrestling with for decades: At what point do the risks of any devices in the classroom outweigh the benefits? I’d add two more layers to it: ? How can we best reconcile safety with student privacy on those devices? ? And how do we create distraction-free classrooms while still enabling appropriate digital learning? Last month, we took a look at aggregate data from two states with cell phone bans. This is just a fraction of the 1.1 billion web requests and 54TB of data Securly analyzes every day. The early returns were not surprising. Flagged student internet filter notifications were up between 17 and 30% in those states when compared to the same time last year. Bottom line: when personal devices are banned, the early data suggest that kids are turning to school devices for personal activities.?What should we think about this? ???? Teachers will now face different pressures with school-based devices, driving the importance and use of our classroom management tools to truly create distraction-free classrooms. ?? Banning cell phones in the building doesn’t mean that digital safety and wellness challenges go away. Instead, the need for appropriate filtering and monitoring across school-issued devices increases, while always keeping student privacy at the forefront. ? If you think digital distraction is creating lost learning in a classroom, wait until I show you the learning time loss created by not having our digital hall pass as a part of classroom management. At a moment when we are watching the policy pendulum swing like never before, unintended consequences abound. Leading a school today is a heroic task. Being a teenager is even harder. How can we make both just a little easier? #edtech #digitalcitizenship #cellphones #anxiousgeneration #selfharm #studentprivacy https://lnkd.in/gWWiNQ3n

Most student information systems track attendance, but what about students who show up to school yet still miss class? ?? In-school absences, like wandering the hallways or sneaking in extra social time, can hurt academic performance just as much as chronic absenteeism. The challenge? These patterns are tough to spot without the right tools. A digital hall pass can help. Discover how schools can track, manage, and minimize missed class time in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/eQFVEDwe #EdTech #K12 #StudentSafety #ClassroomManagement #DigitalHallpass #Hallpass #StudentEngagement #Teachers #Educators

Ed-tech (especially the digital safety space where I now live), is filled with shiny announcements sold a la carte as innovation or differentiation.
