Unsure where to start with your GRC program? Join co-founder Paige Hanson as she speaks with PC Matic on steps your business MUST be doing - no matter the size!
?? Is Your Business Overlooking GRC? ?? Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) isn’t just for large enterprises—every business, regardless of size, must take it seriously. Neglecting compliance can lead to devastating breaches, fines, and reputational damage. Paige Hanson, Co-Founder of SecureLabs Inc., puts it best: ?? “Can you even recover if you have a $100,000 fine or a $100,000 breach? Can you make payroll next week? Who knows?” If you're unsure where to start, focus on these key areas: ? Enforce least privilege access ? Require strong passwords & multi-factor authentication (MFA) ? Regularly audit and revoke employee access ? Conduct ongoing security awareness training ? Manage third-party risk and vendor compliance How does PC Matic help businesses and government agencies stay secure and compliant? ?? Application Allowlisting – Block unauthorized programs and prevent malware attacks ?? Software Asset Management – Gain visibility into your software inventory ?? Patch Management – Keep systems updated and compliant ?? Remote Management – Maintain centralized security oversight ?? Thank you,?Smarter MSP, for featuring our co-founder?Paige Hanson?in your latest article,?“MSP Training: How often and what kind?” As Paige puts it: "Cybersecurity training can’t be a one-and-done exercise. It needs to be ongoing, adaptive and engaging." Why does this matter? - 70% reduction in security risks?with proper training. (Keepnet Labs, 2023) - Huge ROI ... less risk means less financial loss. - Employees = First Line of Defense?when trained effectively. To keep training impactful, mix it up: - Role-specific training: Make it relevant to each department. - External speakers: Fresh insights keep engagement high. - Gamification & tabletop exercises: Test real-world decision-making. - Lunch & Learns: Encourage discussions and knowledge sharing. Cyber threats aren’t slowing down, and neither should security awareness training.?Is your team prepared? Read more: https://lnkd.in/gHyaCi2t

Nonprofits are not immune to cyber threats. Small businesses are not immune. Large companies are not immune. The list goes on ... you get the point. Cyber threats don’t discriminate. It’s time to prioritize security. A proper risk assessment is the first step.?We can help.
Founder of SecureLabs | Helping businesses put security, privacy, and operations systems in place | ?? Keynote, Moderator & Speaker | Identity Theft & Cyber Safety Expert | Volunteer | Wife + Mama
Nonprofits and small businesses ... you are a target. {read below for real example} Cybercriminals don’t care about the good you do. They care about?opportunity! Recently, scammers?hacked into the wonderful nonprofit Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels - an organization dedicated to helping children fighting cancer. ?? Their focus is on their mission, not cybersecurity and that made them a target. Here’s how the scam worked: - They sent a fake “proposal request” email from a legit employee's account. - The email urged recipients to click a dashboard link. - It looked somewhat legit - but something felt off. As a small business owner, I would have loved this contract! But I did what?more people need to do ... I?paused, picked up the phone and verified. Sure enough, Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels confirmed they were hacked. They were working through it, but damage had already been done. ???? ?Small businesses & nonprofits: Cybersecurity is NOT optional.????? I’m not here to just talk about the problem.?I can be a resource.?SecureLabs Inc was built for this. If we’re not the right fit, I’ll connect you to someone who is. Stop assuming it won’t happen to you. Start protecting what you’ve built. Screenshot: this is what a real phishing attack looks like.

Large security vulnerability: Winzip If your employees have this program on their devices, it's time to update! Otherwise you're opening your systems up to malware. Listen in as co-founder Paige Hanson and Jim Stickley, CEO of Stickley on Security discuss.
Winzip is loaded on to the vast majority of computers out there and yet no one really pays much attention to the software. It's just there to uncompress files when you need it. But what happens when it becomes the target of criminals due to a huge security vulnerability? Today I am talking with Paige Hanson about this new risk and what you need to do to protect yourself. #vulnerability #winzip #malware

Ignoring compliance comes at a cost - just ask this plastic surgeon! A Beverly Hills plastic surgeon is facing a class-action lawsuit after failing to notify patients about two major data breaches. Hackers not only stole 1.1 terabytes of sensitive patient data (including nude medical photos!!) but also attempted to extort both the surgeon and the patients directly. The issue? Patients weren’t notified in time, if at all. HIPAA and state laws require timely breach notifications, yet this case highlights what happens when compliance is ignored. The risks are real:?Heavy fines, lawsuits and reputation damage. Just last year, a similar case resulted in a?$65 million?settlement. The takeaway:?Compliance isn’t just about checking a box ... it’s about protecting your business and your customers. If your organization isn’t actively managing compliance requirements like breach notifications, you’re taking a massive risk. SecureLabs helps businesses stay ahead of compliance risks so they don’t end up in headlines for the wrong reasons. Article: https://lnkd.in/dvciV6CZ
