关于我们
Second Harvest Heartland is a leading hunger-relief organization. In partnership with more than 1,100 food shelves and hunger-relief programs in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, we provided nearly 128 million meals to neighbors last year. We also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries. Second Harvest Heartland is a leader, convener and voice in hunger-related policy discussions. We’re working on a bold goal to cut hunger in half for all Minnesotans by 2030. With the help of the whole community, we’ll reduce hunger today by increasing access to emergency food, and prevent hunger tomorrow with policy, partnerships and one-on-one services, all while tracking progress to ensure we’re effective and accountable. There’s a role for each of us to play in making hunger history. Reach out to learn how you can join us or learn more at 2harvest.org. There is no single root cause of hunger. For many, it’s ongoing and persistent. Through our Statewide Hunger Study conducted alongside Wilder Research in 2024, we found that 26% of Minnesota households with children are food insecure. These numbers show the stark reality of food insecurity in our state and outline the work that needs to be done to cut hunger in half for all Minnesotans by 2030. It will take all of us to Make Hunger History. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gYKgFu_D

To make hunger history, Second Harvest Heartland and the entire Minnesota hunger-relief system need the support of volunteers. Samantha Lucas, community engagement manager at Allianz Life, spoke with us about the importance they place on volunteering as a company and how Allianz makes volunteering a priority for employees. https://bit.ly/4gMUpaw

Last week, nearly 400 hunger relief leaders came together for the first annual Make Hunger History Summit. At the Summit, we shared findings from the first Statewide Hunger Survey, including that 1 in 5 Minnesota households can’t afford the food they need. With the growing need being felt throughout Minnesota, gathering as a hunger-relief community to learn, spark new ideas, and strengthen connections is more important than ever. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and a special thank you to each of the speakers who came out to share their expertise. Together, we can Make Hunger History!
