Our region’s largest hunger-relief organization. Join us in ending hunger together.
关于我们
Second Harvest Heartland is a leading hunger-relief organization. In partnership with more than 1,100 food shelves and hunger-relief programs in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, we provided nearly 128 million meals to neighbors last year. We also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries. Second Harvest Heartland is a leader, convener and voice in hunger-related policy discussions. We’re working on a bold goal to cut hunger in half for all Minnesotans by 2030. With the help of the whole community, we’ll reduce hunger today by increasing access to emergency food, and prevent hunger tomorrow with policy, partnerships and one-on-one services, all while tracking progress to ensure we’re effective and accountable. There’s a role for each of us to play in making hunger history. Reach out to learn how you can join us or learn more at 2harvest.org. Help us celebrate National Food Bank Day today! A food bank sources and distributes fresh food, free groceries and healthy, nutritious meals through a network of local food shelves. ??What does a food bank do??? We receive extremely large quantities of donated food, and purchase food directly. We sort and repack this food into smaller-sized portions, store it in our warehouse, refrigerator and freezer space, then distribute it as needed to thousands of hunger relief partner programs in the region.

This #HungerActionMonth get involved in a new way. Ending hunger starts in your neighborhood. We all want to make the world a better place, but it can be overwhelming figuring out where to start. An easy place to begin is right in your own backyard—your local community. Let’s make a real difference for our neighbors this September. Join Second Harvest Heartland this Hunger Action Month to donate, volunteer, and advocate to help end hunger.

Agriculture is the foundation of Minnesota’s economy, and food security is the foundation on which all Minnesotans can thrive. That is why we are calling on Minnesotans to contact their federal representatives to demand that they work together, find common ground and pass a strong, bipartisan farm bill this year. https://lnkd.in/gdrGMGXa

We are excited to celebrate our friends and partners Wcco Radio 830 Am on 830 day for 100 years on air here in Minnesota. A constant provider of news and support to our community, WCCO Radio continues to host an annual radiothon critical to our work here at Second Harvest Heartland.

Households facing food insecurity often also include family members living with chronic illness. A brand-new partnership between Second Harvest Heartland, The Sanneh Foundation and Community-University Health Care Center (UMN) (CUHCC) is bringing food and health care to our South Minneapolis neighbors with support from the Abbott Fund. https://bit.ly/4fVeJrn

There are so many reasons why we love partnering with The Good Acre to source fresh produce from local farmers. When we buy fresh produce from The Good Acre, we are working with them to transform our food system. This includes fostering job creation, community engagement, and regional prosperity. ?? We reduce the carbon footprint, preserve farmland, and get the best of what is in season because of shorter travel times from the ground to the table. ?? We help advance racial equity and serve our neighbors better by providing specialty and culturally specific items. ?? The Early Birds Vegetable Farm
