Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Last weekend, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee board members joined us in hosting a turkey distribution in partnership with Rural Hill Church of Christ. We distributed 740 turkeys along with fresh fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable items to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for nearly 750 families to enjoy around the table together! We’d like to recognize Mission:Possible, an organization founded by Tracy Lawrence, that aims to raise support and awareness for those who are unhoused in Middle Tennessee and beyond. This Thanksgiving, we’re proud to partner with Mission:Possible to store and distribute 1,500 turkeys to help provide Thanksgiving meals for unhoused folks in Nashville. We’re so grateful to have Partners like Mission:Possible who work tirelessly toward a better community for all our neighbors!

Christopher and Nancy grew up in a family of 15 that sometimes struggled to put food on the table, but Nancy told us “We survived, and my mom always taught us to appreciate anything somebody gives you.” Now adults, they still know that feeling of going without on occasion. That’s why they’re grateful for a Second Harvest Mobile Pantry in Williamson County, where they have come for several food distributions. “It’s very helpful”, says Christopher, “It’s a big deal. It’s making ends meet. You pay the bills regardless, but sometimes you might have to eliminate your food.
