Last month, we challenged 8 groups to “Pack it Forward” - which group could pack 480 Food for Kids bags the fastest? - and the results are in! 1st place: Tennessee State Bank at 46:49.31 2nd place: Rotary Club of Maryville at 58:34.62 3rd place: Brunswick Corporation Boat Group at 1:11:58.74 Through Pack it Forward, a total of 3,840 Food for Kids bags were packed. Thank you to all participants for your support of our Pack the Bag campaign, benefitting our Food for Kids program! Second Harvest, along with our Feeding America partner food bank network, are so grateful for our friends at Publix Super Markets, who have reached a milestone of 1 billion pounds of food donated! Our partnership with Publix is essential to our hunger-relief programs — they donated 683,110 pounds of food/produce to us in the last fiscal year. They also volunteer at our warehouse regularly, and even purchased a refrigerated box truck for us, which has been in service since September. Help us give a HUGE thank you to Publix! ??

Second Harvest is incredibly grateful to our friends at Bush's Beans for donating a truckload of “chili-centric” products in celebration of?#NationalChiliDay, including Chili Magic. This product has just three simple steps: (chop. drop. chili!) simplifying chili at home and leading to more accessible nutrition for all. Thank you for supporting our mission to fight hunger and feed hope in East Tennessee!

It's time for another staff spotlight! ? Meet Elaine: Elaine Streno has been leading Second Harvest as our Executive Director since 1993 (you did the math right — that's 32 years!). She gracefully carries out the policies and procedures established by our Board of Directors by overseeing our entire food bank's operation — that includes fundraising, public relations, warehouse & food distribution, agency relations, and business management activities. Fun fact about Elaine: she LOVES to dance! We are eternally grateful to Elaine for giving so much of her time for the nourishment and food security of East Tennessee. Thank you!
