You can’t improve what you don’t see. Most engagement problems aren’t strategy problems. They’re visibility problems. Employees feel unheard. Managers feel overwhelmed. HR feels stuck in the middle—trying to fix culture from the sidelines. And yet, leadership keeps asking: “How do we improve engagement?” “How do we build accountability?” “How do we retain good people?” The answer? Start by making the invisible visible. At Secchi, we help leaders see: Who’s being coached—and who’s not Who’s being recognized—and how often Where disengagement is starting—before it becomes a turnover problem Because culture doesn’t change through surveys or slogans. It changes through consistent, visible leadership behaviors. You can’t improve what you don’t track. You can’t coach what you can’t see. You can’t fix what you don’t understand. Give leaders the tools, and the insight, to lead better. What would your culture look like if every leader had visibility into how they’re showing up for their team?

Engagement isn’t an expense. It’s an investment. Warren Wang, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carell paint a clear picture of this in the scenario below ?? When employees leave, the financial impact goes beyond just replacing them: ?? Turnover costs = 1.5x an employee’s salary (or more) ?? Productivity loss from disengaged teams and time to retrain ?? Missed opportunities from lower motivation and innovation Yet, too often, leaders hesitate to invest in recognition, growth, and flexibility—the very things employees leave over. ?? The data is clear: ? Companies that prioritize engagement reduce turnover by 25% ? Engaged employees drive 21% higher profitability ? Recognition and coaching lead to stronger retention and performance Are you looking at employee engagement as a cost or an investment?

HR: Employees are leaving jobs. CFO: Do we have data on why they’re leaving? HR: Yes. 70% of our turnover is tied to unmet needs like growth, recognition, and flexibility. CEO: But how much does it actually cost us when they leave? HR: Each lost employee costs 1.5x their salary to replace, not to mention the productivity gap. CEO: We need to reduce spending. We can't spend on engagement programs. CFO: What’s the impact of these engagement programs on retention? HR: Programs focused on growth and recognition have reduced turnover by 25%, saving us $3M annually. CEO: Are there other benefits to meeting employee needs? HR: Absolutely. Employees who feel valued are 30% more productive and report higher satisfaction. CFO: What about profitability? CHRO: Engaged teams generate 21% higher profitability. It’s not just about keeping them. It’s about keeping them productive and motivated. CEO: So cutting back on programs that meet employee needs could cost us more? CFO: The data shows there’s a significant financial impact. HR: Meeting employee needs isn’t just an expense. It’s an investment in retention, productivity, and profit. The lesson? Employees quit when their needs go unmet, whether it’s for growth, recognition, or flexibility. Invest in your employees.

Safety and Engagement: Two Sides of the Same Coin In so many industries safety is non-negotiable. Organizations invest millions in safety protocols, training, and compliance measures. But despite these efforts, workplace accidents still happen. Why? Because safety isn’t just about rules and checklists—it’s about culture. And culture is built (or broken) through daily interactions between leaders and employees. ?? Here’s what we’ve seen at Secchi: When employees feel engaged, recognized, and connected to their work, they are: ?? More attentive to processes and procedures ?? More accountable to safety standards ?? More proactive in identifying and reporting risks ?? More invested in their team’s well-being Yet, too often, frontline managers only engage with employees when something goes wrong. What if we flipped that approach? ?? Instead of only coaching when there’s a failure, what if we reinforced positive behaviors in real time? What if leaders had a way to recognize safe behaviors and great decisions as they happen? What if employees were consistently "caught" doing something safely? This isn’t just theory—it’s something we’re actively working on with our customers and reinforcing through partnerships with The Noble Group and other safety experts. Organizations that prioritize real-time feedback, coaching, and recognition don’t just build engaged teams—they build safer workplaces. What’s your experience? Have you seen a strong link between culture and safety in your industry? Drop your thoughts below! ?? Tyler Weston, MBA, Mike White

?? Recognition isn’t just about making people feel good—it’s also about accountability. When we recognize employees, we’re reinforcing the behaviors we want more of. But at the same time, we’re sending a message to those not getting recognized. A culture of recognition isn’t just about celebration—it’s a subtle but powerful driver of accountability and performance. How is your organization using recognition? ?? #EmployeeEngagement #Recognition #Accountability #Secchi

We love a good excuse at Secchi. Please find an excuse to recognize someone today. We’re all busy. Deadlines, meetings, emails—it never stops. But in the middle of all that, take a second to find an excuse to recognize someone. Not for a huge, game-changing achievement. Just for showing up. For solving a problem. For making your day a little easier. A quick “Hey, I see what you’re doing, and I appreciate it” can go a long way. So, who’s your person today? Tag them, message them, or just walk over and say it. It matters. #Recognition #Leadership #WorkCulture #Gratitude
