We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Sigma Eta Pi at UCI on UCI’s Social Enterprise Pitch Competition event, which begins tomorrow with our kickoff event! The objective of this competition is to develop a pitch for a social enterprise, which will be evaluated for its financial feasibility, scalability, market potential, and social/environmental impact. Through this 4-week pitch competition, UCI undergraduate students will have the opportunity to create and propose a social enterprise, receive feedback from professionals at RevHubOC - The Orange County Center for Innovation & Social Enterprise, and win seed capital to start their enterprise! A social enterprise is a business that aims to generate income and be profitable, but also creates a positive social impact or addresses a social or environmental issue through its goods or services. Week 1, on May 8th, the Social Enterprise Pitch Competition will commence with a kickoff event where students will learn about the competition and form their groups. Week 2, on May 15th, we will host a Social Impact Workshop featuring our guest speaker, Susan Angus. Week 3, on May 22nd, Sigma Eta Pi at UCI will conduct a pitch workshop, offering students the opportunity to receive feedback and make any final revisions to their business plan and pitch. Week 4, on May 29th, marks the finale! Teams will pitch their social enterprise ideas to judges and receive feedback from the community!
