关于我们

Seattle Veterinary Outreach (SVO) is an innovative, scalable community outreach that supports health equity for all people and pets by providing veterinary care for pets of people living homeless and low-income and connecting people to needed health, housing, pet, and social service resources. Seattle Veterinary Outreach recognizes the importance of the love people share with their pets-it is apparent on the face of every pet and person that enters our clinic. It is our joy and honor to support these underserved and disenfranchised individuals by providing veterinary care for their pets. In becoming a witness to the human-animal bond they share, and by loving their pet with them, SVO becomes a trusted resource for pet owners in need. It is this bond of trust that allows us to become a partner walking by their side as they access community resources and support that benefits both people and pets. Indeed, this project recognizes that the health and welfare of humans and animals are firmly intertwined. While some may think SVO is just about the pets, it is about so much more. It is about equalizing the right to have a pet. Love should not be limited by income. Our Vision: Seattle Veterinary Outreach envisions a Seattle with more equity in health and opportunity for all citizens. By providing holistic support in the form of complete veterinary services coupled with community outreach, SVO builds resilience in vulnerable populations, empowering them to transform their lives to be healthy together.

UPDATE! The amount of support we have received locally and really from across the country has been amazing! We have found a temporary solution so that clinics can continue at least in the near term. In particular I appreciate the offer from Jeremy Korst (see comment) / Encore Cabinets and Millwork. Sometimes I grouse (a lot) but the goodness of people in our world should never be underestimated. We are not out of the woods yet but we still have hope! ----------- Friends, former colleagues and connections (particularly in Seattle area) - your help is needed. Most of you know that I was the founding President of the Board for Seattle Veterinary Outreach. After a few years I am still on the Board and in my capacity as Board member am asking for help. Late last week someone stole our mobile clinic. This repurposed ambulance is critical to our ability to deliver services to pets to vulnerable people in the Puget Sound area (low income / homeless). The ambulance was recovered, but it's not operable and it was also looted. Of course it was insured, but claims take a while to process, the police are still investigating ... the wheels never turn as fast as we'd like. We have a clinic on Friday, March 29 and we need community help to keep our promise to our clients and their pets. Donations help, but we'd also be happy if we could borrow a box truck...something / anything that will allow us to transport the materials we still have so that we can provide vital services. If you'd like to donate you can visit https://lnkd.in/grFpuVYZ or if you want to lend us a truck, or donate a very short-term rental, please email our Executive Director at [email protected]. Below is the latest news report (yes, it was a big deal these last few days - who steals an ambulance that helps pets?!). Thank you!!!! https://lnkd.in/gHHUdPYh
