We’re getting a gift for our community–a tool of your choice! You have until December 23rd to let us know what you'd like, and we’ll add it to our inventory at both locations for you to check out when we open in January after the holiday break! ???? How It Works: ?? Comment on this social media post with the tool you'd like us to buy OR like a comment from someone else who has already mentioned that tool. ?? You may vote for multiple tools in multiple comments, but you can’t comment more than once with the same tool on the same platform ? You can comment the same tool as long as it’s on a different platform. ?? We have a budget of $500 for each tool library for the new tool. ?? We will only purchase a tool that fits in our inventory, makes sense being loaned out, and does not require intensive/constant maintenance. Make sure to visit us on every platform to cast the most votes!: https://lnkd.in/gVrH-k5Y Thank you for supporting us this year. We really appreciate you! ??

Every day we're thankful for our community, and today is a helpful excuse to express that! Thank you for volunteering your time with us, checking out a tool, participating in a class, showing us your projects with tools you've checked out, or simply sharing a post we've made with friends; we appreciate all that you have done with us ??

As a reminder, we will be closed on Thursday, November 28th for the holidays. Inspired by REI’s #OptOutside movement, we will also be closed on Black Friday (November 29th) to encourage our members to take time to appreciate the outdoors and reflect on the carbon emissions created through consumerism ???? Tool returns will be extended until we reopen on Saturday, November 30th. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] with any concerns about your tool loans.

Instead of Cyber Monday, we’ll be partaking in #CircularMonday by reducing prices on materials by 50% and tools by 25% at the Reuse Materials Store at the Shoreline Tool Library. This movement was started by Henning Gillberg in Sweden to promote renting, repairing, and reusing items instead of letting them go to the landfill! ????? Together, we’ll be celebrating every Monday until the end of the year, so come on by the Shoreline Tool Library Materials Reuse Store, get a fantastic deal on second-hand tools and materials, and help us get one step closer to a circular economy! From the moment everyone filed into the tool library to the moment the Chainsaw Sharpening class ended, there wasn't a single dull moment! ???? If you'd like to be notified of classes like these in the future, you can sign up for notifications: https://lnkd.in/gUFggHtg This class was a part of our 2024 Shoreline Sustainable Skill Series (S4), which focused on sustainability and do-it-yourself (DIY) classes and events, all of which were free to the public.

Versatility was the name of the game last month, and these volunteers absolutely had it! From improving material organization and managing Workshop Orientations to running shifts, we were able to keep things running smoothly during our temporary staffing shortage ???? NESTL Volunteer of the Month: You might not have had a chance to meet him yet, but Craig is one of the magical volunteers that make the woodshop happen here at NESTL. Without his dedication to running workshop orientations, open hours, maintenance of the shop tools, and so much more, we could not do what we do! Craig is a resident jack of all trades; outside of the tool library you can find Craig fishing, running, hunting, making every piece of furniture in his house from scratch, and a million other things. Thank you Craig, for all you do!! Shoreline Volunteer of the Month: Been to Shoreline to borrow on a Monday this month? Then you've probably seen Lynette, helping us keep our doors open through a temporary staffing shortage. Lynette has been such an essential member of our community since Shoreline opened, whether it's using her tool knowledge and skill to improve the physical space, helping with pricing and material organization, and most recently running shifts, Lynette wears many hats extremely well. Thank you for all you do, Lynette, we appreciate you!!
