Seattle Parks and Recreation provides welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate and build community, and promotes responsible stewardship of the land. Seattle Parks and Recreation (Parks) manages a 6,200-acre park system of 465 parks and extensive natural areas. Parks provides athletic fields, tennis courts, play areas, specialty gardens, and more than 25 miles of boulevards and 120 miles of trails. The system comprises about 11% of the City’s land area. Parks also manages many facilities, including 27 community centers, eight indoor swimming pools, two outdoor (summer) swimming pools, four environmental education centers, two small craft centers, four golf courses, an outdoor stadium, and much more. We encourage everyone to stay out from under trees and avoid forested park areas during high winds. ? When thunder roars, go indoors! ?? To report downed trees or branches in parks, or other maintenance issues, please use Find It, Fix It or call 206-684-7250. ?? Trail users, please use caution during wet and/or icy conditions. ?? Stay informed of any parks and recreation impacts or closures by following our social media channels. ?? During severe weather, it is best to stay indoors and out of parks and open spaces.

Join us this weekend at Volunteer Park Conservatory for a special set of Ikebana demonstrations by our friends, the Sogetsu Mercer Island Branch. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, emphasizing simplicity, balance, and natural forms. The displays will be up all weekend with special demonstrations of their construction at 2pm both Saturday and Sunday. Free with admission to the conservatory – no need to sign up ahead of time.
