Rainier Beach Pool is currently closed due to a mechanical issue resulting in the pool being unable to maintain its temperature. Staff are working with a contractor to fix the mechanical failure as soon as possible, and we hope to reopen the pool by December 2. We apologize for any inconvenience. Seattle Police Department vs. Teen Tourney is happening December 6 from 6pm-9pm at the International District/Chinatown Community Center! Teens ages 11+ will get the opportunity to compete against SPD officers in a free throw contest, 3-pointer contest, and dodgeball. FREE! Prizes for all and dinner provided! Seattle Preschool Program at both of these locations is cancelled today. Wedgwood Elementary and Thornton Creek School-Age Care programs are closed today. Meadowbrook shower operations will be at Green Lake Community Center today. James Baldwin Community Learning Center is CLOSED today. These closures are currently due to power outages at facilities. City Hall Park prayer paddles honor Coast Salish people "Look up into the trees at City Hall Park to see a Seattle Parks and Recreation installation of prayer paddles created by Tulalip Tribe artist Ty Juvinel. The paddles honor the Coast Salish people, a group Juvinel says is often underrepresented in the region’s cultural landmarks. Arranged according to the medicine wheel, the paddles symbolize healing, spiritual guidance, and protection across four directions—north, south, east, and west—as well as up and down. The red and black colors reflect the traditional hues used by many local tribes. Although the paddles are subtly placed in the trees, Juvinel hopes visitors will feel their energy as they pass by. The paddles will remain on display at City Hall Park through Jan. 17, 2025." Thank you to Seattle Channel for the video highlight!
