  • Did you know??The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has a?Women & Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) program?to support consulting and purchasing opportunities for small businesses historically underrepresented in government contracting. Our blog post details our efforts and achievements for more equitable contracting & purchasing: The City of Seattle actively supports women- and minority-owned business enterprises (WMBEs) on City contracts as both primes and subcontractors. • SDOT crews have made 3,400+ repairs to our city's 134 bridges since 2015 thanks to funds from the voter-approved Levy to Move Seattle. Thank you, SDOT crews, for reaching this major Levy milestone. These repairs include things like sealing cracks & repairing expansion joints. Fixing railings & concrete. Replacing bearings & painting exposed metal. Crews work year-round in all weather, constantly addressing safety and maintenance issues. On its own, each repair may seem small. Ultimately, they add up. The 3,400+ repairs are the right long-term investment at the right time to keep our city moving safely.

?? ??? This morning, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed the new musician parking & loading zone ordinance at The Crocodile. Starting in early 2025, music venues can apply for specially-marked curb space supporting performers. Congrats to our staff Mary Catherine Snyder + Virginie Nadimi who joined me at the signing, and their leader Mike Estey whose curb space management team is continuously innovating!

Exciting news for Seattle's music community! ?? The Seattle City Council passed groundbreaking legislation prioritizing parking for musicians and their crews at live music venues! ???? The new law will support our vibrant music scene with Music Venue Zone Permits and designated "Music Venue Zones"! The permits create up to three spaces per venue and will allow for convenient parking and loading around the clock, every day of the week, while displaying a valid permit. ???? The Music Venue Zones aims to support artists and their crews by making it easier for artists to perform and thrive, and to support music venues which will enhance our vibrant music scene and boost economic development. ? Proud to be part of this collaboration with the Seattle Department of Transportation and the Seattle Music Commission to transform the parking and loading experience for our city's venues and musicians! From feedback to action, the Music Venue Zone Permit program is a game-changer in supporting our music scene.
