Community accountability and advocacy for police reforms based on mutual trust, respect and support.
关于我们
The Seattle Community Police Commission is unique. A number of U.S. cities are under consent decrees with the federal government to reform their police departments. Seattle is the only one with a civilian commission with a mandate to develop reform recommendations and represent community interests and perspectives. The CPC actively engages the public to obtain community input on its current and future work.

Today we honor the memory of First Nations woodcarver John T. Williams, who was shot and killed by a Seattle police officer on this day 14 years ago. His death (and numerous other high-profile cases of excessive use of force against people of color) galvanized the community and culminated in CPC’s creation. We continue to carry the memory of Williams and other victims of police misconduct in everything we do. In this photo, Williams’ brother attended a CPC event last summer to share his gratitude for the work we continue to do in his brother's honor.

"We agree with SPD Interim Chief Sue Rahr’s decision to terminate SPD Detective Daniel Auderer." ... "This event has shone a light on existing issues within the department and Detective Auderer’s actions and behavior that evening serve as a reminder that we have a lot of work to do towards addressing the culture that tolerated that conversation in the first place." https://lnkd.in/g_uCYc6S

Last month CPC Community Engagement Team had a nice visit with the Filipino Community Village Forum, which is a senior housing facility setting where CPC shared about our work, the police accountability system, and how the community can uplift their voice for reform. OPA joined us in an open sharing forum with the residents. Residents shared about increased crime, SPD staffing levels, homelessness, graffiti, crime reporting and follow-up, language access, and more.
