Press Release: Seatrees Partners with University Scientists and Technology Leader Samsung to Support Coral Reef Restoration
Seatrees is proud to announce a new collaboration with Samsung Mobile, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and UC San Diego researchers to directly support coral reef restoration efforts, and deliver innovative mobile-based technology to help scale coral restoration projects worldwide.
Coral reefs are among the most threatened ecosystems on the planet, facing challenges from climate change, overfishing, and coastal development. To support their recovery, this partnership is leveraging cutting-edge mobile imaging technology to improve restoration monitoring and scalability.
Through this partnership, we are:
- Supporting coral reef restoration projects in Indonesia, Fiji, and Florida
- Partnering with marine scientists to develop mobile-based underwater imaging solutions
- Utilizing Samsung Galaxy devices to create 3D models of reefs, enhancing restoration tracking and data collection
By integrating Ocean Mode, a Samsung Galaxy camera feature optimized for underwater imaging, into our work, we are improving accessibility to high-quality reef monitoring tools for local restoration teams.
