Many leadership models focus on authority, visibility, and efficiency. But what truly drives high performance? Leaders often believe success requires: - More meetings - Tighter control - Faster decision-making Yet, what teams actually thrive on is: ? Clarity over chaos ? Trust over micromanagement ? Energy over exhaustion The highest-performing leaders don’t just push for results, they create environments where people feel empowered, engaged, and equipped to do their best work. Are we leading for optics or for impact? LIke this? Share it. -- Hi! I'm Nina Devouge and I enable leaders to optimise for High Performance. Want to become the leader you wished you had? Growth happens in motion, not meditation Everyone tells you to "find your path." But here's what my years in leadership taught me: Career clarity doesn't come from thinking—it comes from doing. Here are 6 power moves you can make today: 1. Level Up Your Manager Relationship ? Share your career vision openly ? Ask for specific growth opportunities ? Make it easy for them to help you win 2. Learn Through Observation ? Shadow top performers ? Study their decision-making ? Absorb their best practices → One day of watching beats months of wondering 3. Activate Mentor Relationships ? Identify people where you want to be ? Ask specific, thoughtful questions ? Follow up with actions taken → Success leaves clues. Find them. 4. Launch a Strategic Side Project ? Pick something slightly uncomfortable ? Document your learning ? Build while you earn → Low risk, high reward learning 5. Lead Before You're Asked ? Spot gaps in your current role ? Propose solutions ? Take ownership → Leaders create opportunities, not wait for them 6. Invest in High-ROI Skills ? Choose skills with compound returns ? Focus on transferable abilities ? Track your progress → One new skill can change your trajectory The truth about career growth: ? Action creates clarity ? Movement beats meditation ? Done is better than perfect Remember: Every successful person you admire started before they were ready. What action will you take today? Share below ?? ?? I once worked in a role where I felt stuck and undervalued. Every effort to contribute felt like shouting into a void. The toxic dynamics of the workplace stifled creativity and drained confidence - mine and many around me. My goal was simple: To grow, thrive, and bring my best self to work. The turning point came when I realised:?It wasn’t me—it was the environment. I left that job, found a workplace that aligned with my values, and the change was transformative: ? My energy and creativity returned. ? I built stronger relationships with my colleagues. ? I finally felt fulfilled in my career. This underscores a vital truth: When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment, not the flower. Here are 3 steps to create a healthier environment for yourself and your team: 1. Evaluate the culture:?Does it nurture or suppress growth? 2. Speak up:?Share constructive feedback to address toxic dynamics. 3. Choose wisely:?Surround yourself with leaders and peers who uplift you. Key takeaway: Growth isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about finding the right soil to thrive. Have you ever been in a toxic workplace? How did you overcome it? Let’s start a conversation below. ?? Repost this to help your network recognise their environments. -- ?? Last week on Female, Fearless & Fabulous, we had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Scarlett Jiang, Senior Talent Acquisition Leader, on what it takes to speak up courageously, set boundaries and balancing career with motherhood. Here were some of the key takeaways: ? Master Time Management – Use time blocking, set priorities, and confidently say "no" to non-essential tasks. ? Develop the Courage to Speak Up – Prepare, practice, and use the SBI model for structured conversations. ? Set & Adjust Goals Regularly – Break big goals into actionable steps, review monthly, and always stay adaptable. ? Build a Strong Support System – Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and allies to navigate challenges with confidence. Scarlett’s fearless mindset is rooted in her mother’s resilience and her own focus on positivity and growth—a lesson we can all apply! ? Don’t miss this empowering conversation. There’s a big difference between being?nice?and being?kind?as a leader. Nice leaders avoid discomfort. They say what people want to hear. They shy away from tough conversations to keep the peace. Kind leaders, on the other hand, care deeply and dare greatly. They give honest feedback. They set boundaries. They challenge people to grow, even when it’s uncomfortable. A?nice?leader will tell you, “You’re doing great,” even when they know you need to improve. A?kind?leader will say, “I believe in you—here’s what needs to change.” Nice leadership is easy. Kind leadership takes courage. Which kind of leader do you want to be? ?? Repost this to help your network learn these lessons! --? ?? Want more content like this? 1. Follow me (Nina Devouge) 2. There were times in my career when I?dreaded?going to work. The cause? A toxic environment: public shaming, harassment, bullying. You name it, I’ve lived it. And lately, I’ve been hearing more and more stories just like mine. Leaders who avoid conflict but fuel gossip. Bosses who take credit for others' success. Workplaces that claim to value people but make them feel invisible. Toxic cultures don’t just drain your energy, they make you question your worth. Because toxic leaders don’t just criticize; they manipulate. They create doubt, dismiss your ideas, shift blame, and convince others, and even yourself, that?you’re?the problem. TRUTH #1: You are not the problem. A toxic workplace thrives on control. They keep you second-guessing yourself while they position themselves as the only one with answers. Over time, you start believing the lie that your only way forward is out. TRUTH #2: Your value isn’t up for debate. The moment you recognise what’s happening, you take back your power. Step outside the fog of self-doubt and remind yourself who you are. Seek out people who see your worth. Reconnect with your strengths. Remember the skills and talents that got you here. You were never meant to play small. The best workplaces challenge you to grow, not break you down. The best leaders recognize your brilliance, not bury it. So if you’re in a space that makes you question your worth, consider this your wake-up call. You deserve better. You deserve to work where you are valued, respected, and empowered. Stand tall. Own your story. And never let someone else define your worth. ?? Share this with your network. --? ?? Want more content like this? 1. Follow me (Nina Devouge) 2.
