Last week, we marched to the Illinois State Capitol for They Deserve More Legislative Action Day. We joined other advocates to demand better wages for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), without cutting the 900,000 hours of support that people with disabilities rely on every day. We showed up. We spoke out. But the fight isn't over. ✊🏽 Contact your legislators and demand a budget that values both fair pay and full services: https://lnkd.in/gjfZKKpx #DSP #DisabilityAwareness #SaveMedicaid #Nonprofit

Yesterday, Search joined forces with the They Deserve More coalition in Springfield to advocate for increased wages for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) while opposing the proposed cut to their service hours. We marched to the Capitol to ensure legislators understand the critical role Medicaid funding plays in supporting DSPs and the people supported by Search. Together, we raised our voices to fight for fair wages and the future of quality, inclusive care. #DSP #IDD #ProtectMedicaid

This one-pager highlights the vital role Medicaid plays in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and its impact on Search's essential services. ❗ADVOCACY ALERT❗ As of today, the Governor’s proposed budget includes a 50-cent per hour wage increase for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). While this investment is important, it also includes a concerning tradeoff: a cut of 900,000 DSP service hours across the state’s community residential system for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our partners at They Deserve More are urging action. Filling out a witness slip takes less than a minute. Once you’ve submitted yours, please share the opportunity with your networks: https://ow.ly/nCGT50VwSqC #SaveMedicaid #ProtectMedicaid #DirectSupportPerson #IDD

Medicaid isn’t just a program - it’s a lifeline. Proposed Medicaid cuts threaten the stability, health and independence of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). In addition to supporting adults with I/DD, Medicaid also funds direct support professionals, mental health centers and I/DD agencies, all of which are critical to maintaining quality care and inclusion. Read the powerful testimonies below to see how Medicaid impacts the lives of those supported by Search Inc. As we continue advocating to protect Medicaid, there is still time to urge your legislators to support this essential program: https://lnkd.in/gjfZKKpx
