Scope 3 currently is difficult to measure and track, but becoming increasingly important due to its inclusion within ESG regulations and requirements. Tracking scope 3 is another example of information being power, if more businesses were to collect this information, a bigger, more accurate picture of emissions can be collectively calculated for the industry, allowing for more effective strategies and actions both individual and collective to reduce these harmful emissions. Many organisations recognise this and are working to update methodologies and strategies to better accurately evaluate scope 3 emission quantities, such as Science Based Targets initiative, who are updating their standards and considering the potential of ?environmental attribute certificates (such as carbon credits) to tackle these emissions. And hopefully the MASSIV+ partnership improves the adoption of emissions data collection and reporting.
