???????? ?????????? ???? ???????????????? ???????????????????????? ?????? ?????? ????????! The Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) SE Pathways Program was created to advance the practice of structural engineering in California by enhancing the pathway into and through the profession. This initiative focuses on the recruitment and retention of individuals belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in the SE profession including, but not limited to, first-generation college students, women, Black/African American, Native/Indigenous American, Hispanic/Latino, Pacific Islander, Asian, other people of color, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities. Structural engineering students and early-career professionals are able to participate in the Fourth SE Pathways Cohort kicking off at the 2025 SEAOC Convention in San Diego, CA, September 3-5. With activities during the convention and throughout the following year, the Pathways Program provides opportunities for aspiring or new engineers to network with colleagues and practicing professionals throughout the state of California; learn key issues impacting the SE profession, including the need to improve workforce equity and diversity; and meet trade representatives who may assist in future practice. Most importantly, cohort members will help shape the future of Structural Engineering in California. To learn more about the benefits of being part of the 2025 SE Pathways Cohort, visit https://buff.ly/48TZ4Uq https://lnkd.in/gyyFCJ6q. Applications are due by March 30th. #structuralengineering #pathways #mentorship #engineering #seaocconvention2025

关于我们
SEAONC's members include licensed Structural Engineers, engineers who practice structural engineering, researchers, teachers, students, industry members, associate and affiliate members committed to improving the safety and resilience of the built environment. Membership in SEAONC is encouraged for anyone interested in the profession, seeking an opportunity to serve the public, knowledge or ideas, or otherwise help shape the practice of structural engineering. All members of SEAONC are also members of SEAOC. The success of SEAONC, in its efforts to serve the public and the profession, stems chiefly from the volunteer commitments of members working on committees, both technical and non-technical, that form the basis of SEAONC operations. The majority of Association members are licensed civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers regularly engaged in the practice of structural engineering. The Association also draws membership from related fields involved in design and construction, including academe (professors and students), contractors, architects, and representatives from industry and government.

???????????? ????????????: ?????????????????? ?????????????? ??. ?????????? Professor Stephen A. Mahin was a distinguished leader in the field of structural and earthquake engineering, whose contributions have left an enduring impact on both research and practice. As a professor in the UC Berkeley College of Engineering/UC Berkeley, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Professor Mahin was a dedicated educator and pioneering researcher whose work has shaped modern seismic engineering. Throughout his career, Professor Mahin was internationally recognized for advancing the understanding of structural behavior under severe seismic loading. His groundbreaking research integrated high-performance numerical modeling with large-scale experimental simulation, leading to the development of hybrid simulation methods that revolutionized how engineers assess structural performance. These innovations enabled the study of complete structural systems under realistic earthquake conditions. A visionary in seismic protection, Professor Mahin championed the use of seismic isolation and supplemental damping systems to improve building safety and resilience. His work helped bring these technologies from theoretical concepts to practical applications, significantly enhancing seismic performance while addressing cost-effectiveness. Professor Mahin’s influence extended beyond the lab and classroom. He held numerous leadership roles in key engineering organizations, including serving as Director of PEER - Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center and SEAONC Board Director. His leadership of the FEMA SAC Steel Project was pivotal in improving the seismic design and safety of steel structures following the Northridge earthquake. His contributions were recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE Walter Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize, the American Institute of Steel Construction AISC Lifetime Achievement Award, and SEAONC Honorary Membership. His academic excellence was further honored through his appointment as the Byron L. and Elvira E. Nishkian Professor Emeritus at UC Berkeley. Professor Mahin’s legacy is reflected in the countless students, researchers, and professionals he mentored, as well as the innovative engineering solutions that continue to protect communities worldwide. His work remains a cornerstone of performance-based earthquake engineering, inspiring future generations to push the boundaries of what’s possible in structural resilience. #SEAONCLegend #EarthquakeEngineering #StructuralEngineering #SeismicResilience #EngineeringInnovation #PerformanceBasedDesign #SeismicProtection #EngineeringLeadership #AcademicExcellence #UC Berkeley #CivilEngineering #HybridSimulation #SeismicSafety #EngineeringLegacy #ResearchAndInnovation
