Empowering LGBTQ+ young people to not only survive, but thrive

关于我们

Sean’s Legacy is a public health nonprofit redefining primary prevention of suicide through education and mentorship. We are devoted to educating friends, parents, and loved ones about the LGBTQ+ identity and suicide prevention. Sean’s Legacy was founded in 2019, ten years following the passing of Sean Myers. Sean was a 13 year old dancer and artistic honors student who was relentlessly bullied for his bisexuality until the weight was too much to bare. To preserve his legacy, we are working to increase LGBTQ+ representation and identity education as a primary prevention method to reduce suicide among the LGBTQ+ population. We champion LGBTQ+ identity education because of the lack of resources that weren’t available to Sean when he needed them. This is why we provide educational materials for all through our Resource Hub. We are taking LGBTQ+ representation a step further with our professional mentorship program in development, more information will be available in 2023. Our mission is to turn an everyday ally into an advocate for change.

Hi LinkedIn network! ?? I'm working on the UXD team for a mentorship platform called Thrive Out Loud and we're currently recruiting participants to test out our work. The User Experience Research (UXR) team at Sean's Legacy is currently working on an online mentorship platform, Thrive Out Loud, to connect LGBTQIA+ young adults ages 18 to 25 with professional mentors in the LGBTQIA+ community. Sean’s Legacy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting LGBTQIA+ youth by preventing suicide through mentorship and education. To understand the needs and experiences of future LGBTQIA+ mentors, we are testing our platform with individuals in the community who have at least 1 year of professional experience as well as prior experience with a mentorship relationship or program. If this sounds like you and you are interested in participating, please complete this preliminary survey to help our team determine if you are a good fit for the study. All information will be kept anonymous and used only for research purposes. If you are selected to participate, you will be contacted within a week to schedule a Zoom call. ? A modest incentive will be provided for your participation and your insights will help us tremendously in our project that supports the LGBTQIA+ youth community. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your time and effort in supporting and uplifting LGBTQIA+ youth! ?? Link to the survey: https://lnkd.in/g2z2Muqe
