Live today in Seam iOS and web app is Seam Meme, a miniapp to easily create memes! We're especially proud of this one because it demonstrates the future of building collaborative software online: a pipeline of talented folks each contributing and being rewarded for their unique skills and creativity. First, the talented design team that won 1st place at the Seam x SCADpro Design Challenge: Akshay Bhatnagar Mian Irtiza A. Emma Schneider Emily Cullinane Junyuan Lan Pal Upadhyaya. In a weekend 48 hours, they ideated, designed, and presented the Seam Meme miniapp, creating a foundation for the idea. Then, Daniel Gavidia from the Fractal Tech bootcamp took the designs and brought them to life with clever engineering, using a meme template api to source images, and drag and drop text to complete the editor. Finally, the Seam Team released the miniapp into the web and iOS apps, allowing everyone on Seam to easily create memes, empowering our community with a new creation type. We love that this collaborative effort has the potential to expand when the Seam community decides to build more features -- even if you don't know how to code, you can contribute ideas, designs, or feedback. With the great amount of art, literature, and films being shared on the Seam Social media platform, there needed to be a way for the community to share reviews. But I knew a traditional 5-star rating system wouldn’t cut it. Too often, these systems are a source of negativity, being perceived as harsh or critical which doesn’t align with Seam’s creative nature.? That’s why I built the Review Things Miniapp, to flip the script on how we leave reviews. Instead of stars, users can choose their own scale and represent their rating with emojis. Whether you want to rate your weekend by how sunny or rainy it was, or review a book based on how sci-fi or romantic it feels, this system encourages creativity and positivity, offering endless options for playful comparisons directly in your feed. For those who prefer a more classic approach, the traditional star rating option is still available. I'm thrilled to share that my team, "Team Seam Meme," took home "First Place" in the recent design challenge hosted by Seam Social x SCADpro!???? As a member of the Product Design Team, I had the opportunity to contribute to creating a mini-app for Seam—an upcoming social media platform. Our team developed a meme generator that empowers users to become innovative content creators, providing intuitive solutions for crafting engaging and unique memes. This weekend we hosted the Seam Social x SCADpro Miniapp Design Challenge -- it was incredibly inspiring to have over 100 students register to design the future of social networks!
