Lack of payment. Red tape. Interference in client's care. Insufficient rates. These and other reasons are why it is so difficult to find a therapist for people with commercial insurance. This is a travesty and an issue of non-compliance with parity laws. #behavioralhealth?#parity?#workforce?#mentalhealthishealth? https://lnkd.in/gemsUuK8

Our recent workplace well-being webinar with Zina Mercil explored the impact of questioning our automatic thought patterns. By gently challenging our assumptions, we can often find new perspectives on stressful situations. This approach isn't about ignoring challenges, but about broadening our view to include both obstacles and opportunities. Many find it helpful for improving mood and sleep, and for developing a more flexible response to life's hurdles. Curious to learn more? Watch the full webinar here: https://loom.ly/8wdVtO0 And if you're interested in diving deeper, join us on September 16 for a webinar with mindfulness expert Martha Rouleau. She'll share practical microbreak techniques to support well-being in your daily routine. Martha brings over 30 years of experience in education and mindfulness, blending neuroscience insights with accessible tools for everyday life. She has worked with leaders, educators, and professionals nationwide to enhance resilience through mindful practices. ProPublica's recent investigation reveals a shocking truth: our mental health system is failing both patients and providers. Key findings: - Half of those with mental health conditions can't access treatment, despite having insurance. - Therapists are leaving insurance networks in droves, citing unsustainable conditions. - Administrative burdens and low reimbursement rates are pushing providers to the brink. This isn't just a problem—it's a crisis. When therapists can't afford to treat insured patients, we've reached a breaking point. The human cost is staggering: - Patients in crisis, unable to find care - Providers choosing between helping patients and paying bills - A widening gap in mental health treatment, exacerbating existing inequities We cannot accept a system where mental health parity exists on paper but not in practice. It's time for meaningful change: - Fair compensation for mental health providers - Reduced administrative burdens - Innovative solutions to expand network access - Strict enforcement of mental health parity laws The path forward requires collaboration between providers, payers, policymakers, and patients. We must reimagine a system that truly values mental health care. What solutions do you see? How can we collectively ensure that mental health care is accessible and sustainable for all? #MentalHealthCrisis #HealthcareReform #ParityNow #AccessToCare
Great in depth reporting from Pro Publica - There are nowhere near enough available therapists in insurance networks to serve all of the people seeking care. And although almost all Americans are insured, about half of people with mental health conditions or substance use disorders are unable to access treatment although federal law requires insurers to provide the same access to mental and physical health care. Those who need therapy often have to pay out of pocket or go without care. https://lnkd.in/ewdBw6N9
