SEAL has been actively assisting the Bybit team and we have strong reason to believe that TraderTraitor was responsible for the recent theft. We’ve also been assisting the FBI in notifying potential victims of TraderTraitor before they’re victimized. Here is the advice that we’ve given to crypto exchanges when we suspect they are at an elevated risk of compromise by TraderTraitor. We hope that other crypto exchanges will use it to protect themselves.

We are happy that David Balland and his wife are now safe. ?? They were freed from kidnappers several days ago after experts immediately froze a ransom payment made in crypto. We’re proud to be part of this effort, which could set a precedent for future investigations. As Nicolas Bacca said, “Asking for a ransom onchain means the entire community is fighting against you - not a smart move.”
