“The circular economy works to transform conventional ways of production and consumption to avoid depleting natural resources and promote regeneration of natural ecosystems.” Our latest investment in Circulate Capital will help combat plastic pollution at the source by supporting companies and projects that advance the #CircularEconomy in Latin America and the Caribbean. IFC Climate & Sustainability’s circular economy expert Lisa Da Silva explores why a circular economy is a win-win-win for the planet, for profit businesses, and emerging markets and discusses its role in accelerating the #GreenTransition. ?? ?? ??
??A thriving circular economy isn’t just good for the planet, it’s good for business. Our investor and partner,?IFC - International Finance Corporation,?is helping drive this transition, and in this piece, their circular economy expert,?Lisa Da Silva,?highlights how the private sector can turn waste into value. At Circulate Capital, our entire investment thesis is built on this principle. We invest in circular solutions because we see firsthand how they can create value—helping to address plastic pollution and climate change while also presenting market opportunities. ?? https://lnkd.in/eXupb9Vt #CircularEconomy #ImpactInvesting #SustainableFinance

Coral reefs are in crisis — what we do next will define their future. ?? The world is witnessing the most extensive coral bleaching event ever recorded, impacting nearly 80% of reefs. Coral bleaching happens when rising ocean temperatures stress corals, causing them to expel the algae that give them color and life. Without these algae, corals turn white, and if high temperatures persist, they can die. This threatens marine species, as well as the food security and economies of billions of people. ?? Without funding and action, coral reefs could disappear within decades. That’s why Sea Forward is proud to support the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR)—a U.N.-backed coalition driving innovative finance solutions to protect reefs and coastal communities. GFCR has already: ?? Supported community-based aquaculture and sustainable fisheries in 75 reef-rich marine protected areas, spanning nearly 1M hectares in the Philippines ?? Redirected $35M in debt payments toward reef conservation in Indonesia ?? Funded sustainable tourism and mooring systems in Raja Ampat The U.N. Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean Peter Thomson took to Reuters to emphasize the urgent need for increased funding and a global commitment to protect these ecosystems. https://reut.rs/4gBwoDo
