Mindfully Wired have done a fantastic job in preparing this event and there's a terrific line up of inspiring speakers talking innovation and commercialisation. Will share more Tuesday/Wednesday. Our very own Wally Stevens helped present a check on behalf of National Fisheries Institute Future Leaders Alumni to the Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF), following a recent study showcasing that changes in diet may reduce cancer cell growth. Congratulations to all, and a big thank-you to NFI for their support on this important issue!
National Fisheries Institute Future Leaders Alumni, through a perpetual fund set up to honor Wally Stevens, presented a $13,000 check to the Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF). During the SIRF Soirée at GSMC, we heard from Dr. William Aronson, Professor of Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He discussed a new study that offers new evidence that dietary changes may help reduce cancer cell growth in patients undergoing active surveillance. The findings published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, show that a diet low in omega-6 and high in omega-3 fatty acids, combined with fish oil supplements, significantly reduced the growth rate of prostate cancer cells in men with early-stage disease.
