What a whirlwind week for SEADLING at the Singapore International Agri-Food Week 2024 (SIAW)! We’re excited to share that we won the Agri-Food Tech World Championship, a prestigious pitching competition at the Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA). This win is a reflection of the collective efforts of everyone in the seaweed space—from farmers and researchers to businesses and organizations all working to innovate and drive sustainability forward. It was inspiring to participate alongside so many talented startups and companies. The chance to exchange ideas and insights really reinforced the importance of collaboration in agrifood tech. At AFTEA, our booth gave us a wonderful opportunity to introduce our products and educate visitors about seaweed—highlighting its many benefits and the role it can play in advancing food security and sustainability. We’re also incredibly grateful to Impact Circle MY for supporting us and helping make our presence at AFTEA possible. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Innovate360 and Constellar for their help in amplifying our presence and connecting us with key players in the industry. In addition to the expo, we participated in insightful panel discussions at both AFTEA and the APAC Agri-Food Summit. This year’s Pet Fair Southeast Asia 2024 was a great opportunity for SEADLING to showcase our fermented seaweed ingredients to both the Thailand market and a global audience. Held at BITEC Bangkok, the event brought together professionals from over 75 countries, and it was inspiring to see so many dedicated to improving pet food. The trend toward clean-label, natural products is gaining momentum in the industry, and was clearly reflected at the fair. Our functional fermented seaweed ingredients have unique binding abilities, making them an ideal alternative as the pet food industry shifts toward natural, functional binders. Unlike conventional binders, SEADLING’s ingredients support formulation binding while also providing health-promoting benefits. This clean, natural approach helps brands create products that pet owners can trust. Throughout the event, we had meaningful discussions with new contacts and caught up with our partners from Thai Union Group PCL., i-Tail Corporation PCL, and Scoular. Exciting things to come in Hiroshima! Many thanks to JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization & @Hiroshima prefecture for organising an inspiring visit to the city of Hiroshima and the Setouchi inland sea. It was an honour to meet the Governor of Hiroshima prefecture, Hidehiko Yuzaki and share MAST′s vision for reconnecting cities with the sea. It was also great to meet the incredible team from emerging frontiers at Shimizu Corporation in person, discuss the future of Hiroshima with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and spend time with the inspiring team at eclect, Inc. 株式会社エクレクト who are taking big steps toward reinvigorating the islands of Setouchi. ?? ?????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ?????????????????????? There are thousands of seaweed farmers in Semporna, Malaysian Borneo, and SEADLING works with nearly 300 of them. These farmers are vital to what we do. Recently, we visited one of their communities to better understand their needs and give back in meaningful ways. ???????????????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????????????? We spent time with the children, organizing simple activities like coloring and teaching them basic hygiene, including proper handwashing and nail care. These small but important lessons can make a big difference in daily life, especially in areas where access to hygiene resources is limited. This interaction also gave us the chance to build a stronger bond with the families. But it wasn’t all fun and games. One family needed repairs on their stilt house, so we helped fix the floor to make sure their home was safer. Working side by side with the family allowed us to contribute in a practical way and show that we’re here for more than just business. With someone on our team who has a medical background, we were also able to provide basic health consultations, giving the families advice and reassurance about their well-being. Taking care of their health is just as important as the work we do with seaweed. ?????????????????? ???? ?????????? ?????????? We took time to listen to the farmers talk about their challenges, from unpredictable weather to rising costs. These conversations help us understand their realities and how we can work together to overcome them. It’s not just about producing seaweed—it’s about making sure the people growing it are supported. ???????????? ?????????????? ???????????????? This visit reminded us that our relationship with these farmers goes beyond business. We’re committed to working alongside them to improve their lives and the industry we all rely on. So, we’ll keep investing in their homes, health, and livelihoods. By doing this, we’re not only building better partnerships, but also helping create a more sustainable future for everyone involved.
