?? We held our 5th Offshore Renewable Energy Summit last month with Massachusetts Clean Energy Center!
It was a fantastic evening centering on Innovation in Construction and Innovation in Operations & Maintenance. Our focus across panels was the commercialization journey of technologies and startups in the offshore renewable industry. Startups often face commercialization challenges in getting their technologies to market, and the industry has several constraints that challenge the adoption of new technologies.
Some insights from our two panels:
?? The permitting timeline is close to 10 years and is a barrier for startups and often causes them to run out of runway.
?? Startups need a champion from large ORE developers to move forward with pilots and partnerships — someone who understands the tech and the value.
?? Startups can find champions in subcontractors that are pitching for larger contracts.?
?? Developers are willing to test technology on a small scale and see what works. Proof of concept is essential here.
?? ... And more!
