关于我们
For nearly 80 years, KeyNote, and its family of music education programs, have served as a catalyst for investing in the future of thousands of young San Diegans through rigorous and inspiring music education experiences. Through SDYS’ flagship youth orchestra program in Balboa Park, it’s community engagement programs across San Diego County, and its innovative early childhood music curriculum, KeyNote offers comprehensive cradle-to-college ensemble-based music education programming and is a national leader in outreach programming, serving thousands of young people and their families every season. At KeyNote's SDYS, we believe that music is a vehicle for giving young people the social, emotional, and academic skills that transcend traditional educational models and prepare them to enter the 21st-century workforce. Our values, which focus on personal achievement, leadership, and community inclusiveness, form the basis of every SDYS program. We respect every young person who takes part in our programs and celebrate their accomplishments as musicians, as members of our community, and as future leaders, in San Diego and across the nation. ??? Ray Charles – The Genius of Soul ??? Ray Charles (1930-2004) revolutionized music by blending blues, gospel, R&B, jazz, and country into timeless hits like “I’ve Got a Woman,” “What’d I Say,” and “Unchain My Heart.” His 50+ year career earned him 18 Grammy awards, Kennedy Center Honors, and even a U.S. Postal Stamp! Blind from childhood, Ray mastered multiple instruments and built a legacy that stretched beyond music—his Ray Charles Foundation continues to support education and hearing disorder research. This Black History Month, we celebrate Ray Charles' incredible impact—his music, his mission, and his unshakable spirit that continues to inspire generations. ?? #BlackHistoryMonth?#RayCharles?#GeniusOfSoul?#SDYS
