Connecting the San Diego region to advance climate change solutions.
关于我们
The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative was established in 2011 as a network for public agencies to advance climate change solutions that mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change. Partnering with academia, non-profit organizations, and business and community leaders, the Climate Collaborative raises the profile of regional leadership, shares expertise, and leverages resources. Our mission is to connect the region to advance climate change solutions. By bringing people together, we envision a region that is prosperous and resilient with a commitment to maintaining a high quality of life, and fostering a green and growing economy with an equitable and unified approach. Together, we are prosperous and resilient.

Congratulations to our first cohort who completed the inaugural San Diego Regional Energy Academy last week! We concluded our program with a field trip to UCSD's energy operations to learn about decarbonization and resilience efforts. Then we heard from oceanographer Dr. Mark Merrifield on the regional effects of heat waves and changing temperatures throughout San Diego County. We ended our day with an interactive tour of San Diego Gas & Electric Resilience Zone, where we tested our newfound knowledge on energy resilience. The Energy Academy would not have succeeded without the help of many collaborators. Thank you to all of our speakers who joined us throughout the program and to our funding partners, San Diego Gas & Electric and San Diego Community Power. Thank you to USD School of Law - Energy Policy Initiatives Center for co-leading with us a great first cohort. We are proud of all our participants and excited to see how they integrate this energy education into their careers and goals!

The first ever California Coast and Ocean Report Card is being developed through a partnership between OPC, Ocean Science Trust, and the West Coast Ocean Alliance. This Report card will use a scientific, indicator-based approach to grade the health of California’s coast and ocean. As called for in the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan (Objective 3.6), and it aims to inform the public and decision-makers about ocean conditions and highlight areas for improvement, while identifying data gaps for future monitoring investments.

On Tuesday, our Sea Level Rise Working Group convened at Kendall Frost Marsh for their first in-person meeting since 2019. We enjoyed an educational stroll through the marsh as we learned about restoration efforts and the local birds. Special thanks to the San Diego Bird Alliance and The City of San Diego teams for leading this meeting!
