BBBS recently had a wonderful time at CreativeMornings San Diego, listening to Gill Sotu's powerful poetry about rituals for cultivating a creative life. We were proud to be a sponsor and come up with an impactful deck this month. Stay tuned for more exciting events!

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: A Match Made in Heaven! ? Meet Amara and Ana, a proud Mexican-American Big and Little duo whose shared heritage and experiences have formed an incredible bond. Amara met her Big Sister, Ana, in May of 2021. Like Amara, Ana grew up with little material things, spending her childhood between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. She related to Amara in several ways, and their similar backgrounds set the foundation for a strong and trusting relationship that would open a world of possibilities for Amara. In just a short time, Amara started to reveal a different side of who she was... she became more secure and outgoing, speaking up in conversations and laughing more loudly. Her self-esteem and her motivation increased immensely. Ana wrapped Amara with such encouragement and enthusiasm that Amara forgot to be afraid. Are you ready to make a difference? Become a Big Sister and help inspire a young girl like Amara. Your support and guidance can change her life.

Last Saturday, the BBBS Big Futures team put on a Career Exploration Event for our Littles. Bigs in our program volunteered to set up a booth and share about their careers with Littles. We had a great turnout?of matches and families attend, and they enjoyed the presentations and booths our amazing Bigs put together. There was an interactive DJ station, Littles designed a mini bouquet with the event planner, did drills with the physical therapist, learned about careers in engineering, law, veterinary science, hair and makeup, and lots more. Our Littles had a fantastic time learning about potential careers and interacting with individuals in a variety of fields. Also, a huge?shout out to?Mona Lisa Italian Foods! Thank you for donating the delicious lunch for our Career Fair! CBS 8 San Diego?
