Two years ago, our very first club meeting took place in a small room in the basement of the Santa Clara University library, where we started with about 10 members. Since then, we were honored to be awarded the Bucky Award for Best Provisional Student Organization (PSO)?of the Year, nominated for Best Registered Student Organization a year later—and our Discord community has grown to over 100 members. Most importantly, we have grown into an established club that has developed into a safe space for many of our members to express their passions and interests in game design. From Jackbox to collaborative playlists, from holding speedrunning competitions for our own game to spinning each other in rolling chairs—-the last two years here at SCU’s Video Game Design Club marked a period of incredible memories. collaboration, and growth. Our talented art, worldbuilding/writing, programming, and audio teams have put their heart and soul into our current project, a 2D action platformer set to release on Steam in August of this year. We are so proud of their work and are excited for everyone to experience the game! Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our graduating seniors Max White, Bryan Alexander, Dalia Suszko, and Lauren Vu.?We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and thank you for the impact you made on the the club these past two years! ??

Video Game Design Club aims to provide members with a place to meet, discuss, and collaborate with others interested in video game development. Members can join at any experience levels or fields of talent from just getting started with video game development to having made a game. One of the ultimate goals of the club is to outreach to local developers and publishers in order to provide members with insight and opportunities with professional developers.
