One of the best parts of working at Santa Clara University is being surrounded by the energy and enthusiasm of students who are already doing the real work to make our campus, community and world a more sustainable place. It's easy to get jaded when you're disconnected, and witnessing dedication and leadership of these students fills me with such hope!
SCU students met with industry leaders and city officials for an evening of connection, celebration and selfies! At this year’s Sustainability Careers Meetup, students engaged with City of Santa Clara officials and leaders from Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the city’s not-for-profit municipal electric utility. Hosted in partnership with the Career Center, Enrollment Management Division, and the SCU Center for Sustainability, this networking event provided valuable connections and insights into careers in clean energy and public service. The evening closed with a dinner honoring our newest student cohort of Silicon Valley Power Sustainable Futures Scholars and Fellows for their dedication to shaping a more sustainable future. The dinner opened with words of encouragement and thanks from Santa Clara University President Julie Sullivan, City of Santa Clara Councilmember Sudhanshu Jain, SVP Chief Electric Utility Officer Manuel Pineda, and Lindsey Kalkbrenner, Director for the Center of Sustainability. A huge thank you to our community and university partners and guests for making this event and the SVPSF program so impactful.
