Earlier this month we posted about an AIG retrofit we completed in January. See below. The plant ran a stack test on 2/5 to determine how the unit is performing and results look great: Stack test before retrofit: NH3 slip = 3.54 ppm Stack test after retrofit: NH3 slip = 0.59 ppm That's 83% reduction! A few notes.. - Before the retrofit, the NH3 slip was especially problematic during load changes. Now, the NH3 slip is well within limits through all load swings! - The improvements were all made with just a new AIG by SCR Solutions. No catalyst modifications! - NH3 consumption also reduced by 16% Contact us if you would like some more details and how this can be applied at your plant. www.scr-nox.com This was done on an existing 60MW LM6000 combined cycle unit in northern CA that has been experiencing poor SCR performance since startup in 2003. The retrofit included CFD modeling, detailed engineering and custom fabrication. This whole process was performed in about 4 months to meet the plant's Fall 2024 outage!

SCR Solutions just completed this AIG retrofit to start 2025! This was done on an existing 60MW LM6000 combined cycle unit in northern CA that has been experiencing poor SCR performance since startup in 2003. The retrofit included CFD modeling, detailed engineering and custom fabrication. This whole process was performed in about 4 months to meet the plant's Fall 2024 outage! Startup should take place mid-January and we are excited to share the results!

SCR Solutions was back in northern CA this week at a simple cycle plant experiencing poor SCR performance. This plant has two LM6000 turbines (100MW) and we did a detailed inspection of the SCR and catalysts. We found some structural issues which impact performance. It all ties together! More info to come..

SCR Solutions was in northern CA this week at this 83MW combined cycle unit. We are replacing the existing ammonia injection grid (AIG) and performed a detailed laser scan of the existing ductwork. Laser scanning is a huge help with retrofits like this, especially when OEM drawings are not available or no as-builts were done.

SCR Solutions was just at this 1875MW combined cycle plant on Ohio to address issues with HRSG casing deflections. Each of the 3 units units have "bowed" casings around the CO catalyst and AIG that may affect emissions (bypass, poor ammonia distribution). A laser scan was done of each unit, with more detailed scans done around the CO/SCR casing sections. The scans from each unit were all tied together as shown in the photo. This is a really cool way get detailed as-built conditions, and solve emission problems!

SCR Solutions was recently tasked with trying to determine why this 540MW combined cycle plant was having CO emission issues. After an internal inspection, a large gap was found along one of the side walls between the internal liner and CO catalyst frame. This was allowing gas to bypass the CO catalyst and cause elevated CO stack emissions. The cause appeared to be deformed HRSG casing, but the magnitude of the deformation was difficult to determine. So we performed a laser scan of the entire CO catalyst HRSG section as shown in the images below. We overlaid this with the HRSG design drawings and determined that the HRSG casing was bowed out almost 5"! This was a huge find and helped to come up with a remediation plan to straighten and properly stiffen the casing. Very cool project and proved how useful laser scanning can be to even help with emissions!
