Scout was privileged to celebrate with Fort Payne City Schools at the March 21 groundbreaking for the new Wildcat Arena. The new Arena will be a multipurpose facility that the entire community will enjoy, Fort Payne City Schools Superintendent Brian Jett told those gathered for the event, which featured a delicious lunch prepared and served by students in the Fort Payne High School Culinary Arts program. The Arena will include a competition gym for a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, and cheer, plus seating configurations that will accommodate stage performances. An academic wing will have classrooms for computer science, STEM, and cosmetology programs. A large hospitality room on the upper level will provide space for events and conferences, and the lower level includes an integrated storm shelter. “Wildcat Arena will be so much more than a gym,” Jett said. “This is an opportunity to advance academics and upgrade athletic facilities for all our students. The new Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama, is moving forward with much work accomplished on the field house and stadium, as well as on the academic building.? The St. Clair County Education Foundation Gala was a wonderful night of celebrating all the good things going on in St. Clair County Schools. ?????? Sitework continues for the new Springville Middle School for St. Clair County Schools.? The new school will be approximately 82,500-square-feet and include a cafeteria, gymnasium, performing arts spaces, media center, science lab, classrooms, and integrated storm shelter. Here's a look at recent progress on the new Moody High School and Gym for St. Clair County Schools.? As the exterior of both buildings continues to take shape, lots of work also is happening on the interior, specifically the studding up for interior classrooms and other spaces and the installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing — the critical systems most people will never see. Sand Rock School is getting a makeover with the addition of 47,000 square feet of new space that includes classrooms, administrative offices, and a media center. Phase 1 was completed last year, and Phase 2 is moving toward the final stages of completion. We're excited for the Sand Rock community, who will enjoy this new facility for generations to come. Marshall County (Alabama) Schools is investing in students with two exciting projects: the new Central PreK and a new bus facility. The new Marshall Central PreK building is in the final stages of construction. This state-of-the-art building, which will serve the county's youngest students, features two classrooms, a sensory room, and a storm shelter. The new bus garage also is progressing. The building features several service bays for maintaining the system's 100+ buses ready to safely transport students. There will also be a large parking area adjacent to the building. Our team enjoyed celebrating with Guntersville City Schools yesterday at the ribbon-cutting for the new Guntersville High School. The next phase of this project is demolition of the old school.?
