Our CEO Charlie Jordan joined colleagues from across SPR for a tour of Siemens Gamesa’s blade factory in Hull this week. The visit cements our longstanding relationship with the company, and the facility will soon produce nearly 200 blades for our East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm following the award of a contract worth more than £1bn earlier this month. The factory now employs around 1,300 people after more than 600 new employees joined over the last year, and it was fantastic for our teams to learn more about the facility and see the production process up close. Thanks to Siemens Gamesa for their hospitality and we look forward to seeing UK-made blades powering millions of UK homes throughout the years to come. Grace, who you might’ve seen on BBC Children in Need last night, is one of four inspirational young people who make up the The One Show’s 'Challenge Squad', all of whom took part in fundraising challenges for Children in Need. She was supported by the charity, MOVE, during her latest challenge which was to assist Paddy McGuinness in his Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge for BBC Radio 2. Grace actually came along to our Whitelee Windfarm to complete some of her training on our 130km of trails??????

We’ve confirmed a £1bn contract for our East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm, which will see Siemens Gamesa supply 64 offshore wind turbines. The turbines will have a rotor diameter of 236m – almost as tall as the observation deck at the Shard – with blades manufactured at the company’s facility in Hull, supporting 1,300 local jobs. It’s part of our £4bn investment in the 960MW EA2 windfarm which, once complete in 2028, will produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of almost 1 million homes. Our East Anglia projects are delivering UK jobs, UK supply chain contracts and more UK green energy ??

We’ve officially signed Contracts for Difference with the Low Carbon Contracts Company, covering more than 1,000MW of new clean, green generating capacity across our East Anglia TWO and THREE projects. These will secure enough electricity enough to power the equivalent of more than one million homes, and support the signing of billions of pounds in investment and supply chain awards?? Managing Director for Offshore Development and Operations Ross Ovens said: “It’s fantastic to reach this milestone for so much renewable generation, and especially pleasing to see offshore wind leading the charge towards a cleaner and greener future. “We’ve been moving at pace since our success in the auction to confirm the supply chain for our £4 billion East Anglia TWO windfarm, which will produce enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of almost one million homes. We look forward to bringing this project to life and reaping all the benefits that offshore wind can, and will, deliver.”???
With 130 contracts signed across the length and breadth of Great Britain, #AR6 sees 9.58GW of renewable energy contracted to help us get to #NetZero. A key highlight is ScottishPower Renewables’s East Anglia Two project which accounts for 963MW and sits nearly 33miles off the east coast of England. To celebrate we held a contract signing ceremony between our CEO, Neil McDermott, and Scottish Power’s Ross Ovens Managing Director for Offshore Development and Operations. This project is a prime example of the scale and impact of AR6. Read more here ?? https://lnkd.in/eSihydS2

Together with Siemens Gamesa and North Star we’ve asked people across East Anglia to help name the new vessel bound for our East Anglia THREE windfarm ?? We’ve had an incredible 180 submissions so far - but with entries closing on 30th November there are only a few weeks left to get your suggestions in! ?? A reminder that the vessel will carry the ‘Grampian’ first name as homage to North Star’s Aberdeen heritage - but we’re looking for a winning suggestion for the second portion of the ship’s name which acknowledges East Anglia’s rich maritime heritage or its local community. The winner will be invited on board one of North Star’s existing SOVs to experience life offshore firsthand – and will be presented with a scale model of the new ship bearing their chosen name. Another great Nae Fireworks Night at our Whitelee Windfarm. We were blown away by just how many visitors, dogs and cats we had, trying to escape from the noise of fireworks ?? ? Huge thanks to our East Renfrewshire Whitelee Rangers and Glasgow Science Centre Visitor Centre staff for hosting and to SSPCA and Animal Welfare for joining us ?? ? Our Nae Fireworks night has been a popular event for 8 years now and this year was no exception, with over 2,000 visitors joining us. The 130km of trails on our Whitelee Windfarm are the perfect place for dogs to escape the noise and stress of Bonfire night. Our Countryside Rangers hosted guided walks and the Visitor Centre was open late for hot drinks and cakes, so it was a great night for owners too. ? Whitelee is more than just a windfarm and this is just one of a number of seasonal events hosted there in addition to the indoor exhibition, educational workshops, bus tours around the windfarm and visitor centre café open daily ? ? #NaeFireworks #MoreThanAWindfarm
