Scottish Rite for Children is a world-renowned leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions with the focus of giving children back their childhood through expert care. Scottish Rite was founded in 1921, and for more than 100 years, the organization has provided care for complex and common orthopedic conditions, including scoliosis, clubfoot, hand differences, hip disorders, sports injuries and fractures, as well as certain related arthritic and neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. High school students recently took part in the Perry Outreach Program at Scottish Rite for Children, led by Medical Director of Clinical Safety and pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr. Amy L. McIntosh along with colleagues from UT Southwestern Medical Center. These young women engaged in hands-on exercises, performing mock surgeries and suturing, while learning from inspiring female medical professionals and engineers. Through the Perry Outreach Program, Dr. McIntosh is empowering the next generation of women in STEM and orthopedics. Since 2019, the Perry Outreach Program and the STEM Rite program have inspired and equipped more than 290 girls and young women to pursue careers in science and medicine! ?? #STEMday2024
