Are you making the most of Scotland’s business investment landscape? Discover key insights into the investment patterns of Scottish firms in our recently commissioned report “Productive Investment Decisions in Scottish Firms”. Delivered by the Enterprise Research Centre (UK), the report’s findings help inform how we support businesses to make those crucial investment decisions. Some of the key findings include: ?? Scottish firms that invest share similar business characteristics and objectives with firms across the rest of the UK. ?? Scottish firms mainly invest in tangible investments or a combination of tangibles and intangibles. ??? Investment planning is fast-paced, however, a substantial share of Scottish firms do not use formalised approaches to investment. ?? Firms mostly use internal company funds to finance their investments. Costs and other resources were often key considerations, highlighting the importance of sufficient funding. ?? On average, five people are involved in making business investment decisions and over a third of firms involve external partners. ?? Evidence suggests that different types of investments within a business work together in a complementary way. Today we were thrilled to bring together 27 of Scotland’s most ambitious female founders, including Cytochroma, Danu Robotics, Seluna Ltd and Rethink Carbon among others, for the Pathways to Scale programme showcase finale in Glasgow. This event marked the culmination of an intensive leadership development journey, equipping female entrepreneurs with the confidence, skills, and networks needed to scale their businesses and secure investment. With over 100 special guests in attendance, including potential investors, GlobalScots, and key figures from Scotland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, founders had the opportunity to pitch their businesses, gain valuable feedback, and make critical connections for their growth journeys. Ahead of #internationalwomensday later this week, it was a real highlight to hear from keynote speaker Ana Stewart, of EoS and Pathways Forward, who reinforced the urgent need for change: currently, only 1 in 5 UK businesses are run by women—and that’s just not good enough. With the support of Scotland’s ecosystem, we have the power to change that. Through the Pathways to Scale programme, participants receive strategic advice, peer support, and networking opportunities - we can’t wait to see what these ambitious businesses achieve next ??
