Today marks a significant milestone as we celebrate Sam Dean’s 12th anniversary as CEO of the Scott Family Amazeum! Under Sam's visionary leadership, the Amazeum has become a cornerstone of the Northwest Arkansas community, fostering creativity and learning for all ages. Since our opening in 2015, the Amazeum has welcomed millions of visitors, hosted numerous "Unfield" trips, and participated in hundreds of educational offsites and outreach events. Sam's dedication to hands-on, STEAM-based education has not only enriched the lives of countless families but also positioned the Amazeum as a leader in innovative learning experiences. His commitment to community engagement and collaboration has been instrumental in the museum's growth and success. The Amazeum Education Team recently had the opportunity to share their expertise at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Annual Conference, where early childhood educators, leaders, and researchers come together to advance the field. This year's theme, "One Vision, Many Voices," set the stage for meaningful conversations. Representing the team, Sarah Wiley and Rachel Keene led a session on how classic children’s books can serve as gateways to deeper thinking and creativity in the classroom. Their presentation highlighted how educators can use storybooks not just for reading, but as tools to inspire curiosity, foster problem-solving, and introduce diverse perspectives. By blending literature with creative activities, educators can create richer learning experiences that engage young minds on multiple levels. We’re excited to share that our MicroEye exhibit just received a significant upgrade, thanks to a generous contribution from Austin Jones and the University of Arkansas Entomology Department. Jones and his team donated a selection of fascinating insect specimens, mostly collected right here in Northwest Arkansas, to enhance our guests' exploration of the miniature wonders of nature. ?? These specimens bring an added layer of discovery to the exhibit, allowing visitors to see the intricate details of insects up close—from the delicate patterns on wings to the intricate structures of exoskeletons. It’s these small but powerful moments of awe that can inspire a lifelong love for science and curiosity. We’re also adding a special recognition sign in the exhibit to honor Jones and his team's support. This collaboration is a wonderful example of how partnerships can bring hands-on learning and scientific discovery to life, enriching the experiences of our visitors of all ages. We had the privilege of participating in the Step Up for Down Syndrome Fundraiser hosted by the Down Syndrome Connection of Northwest Arkansas.
