Not every job site looks the same. Sometimes, we’re high up on a boom lift, tackling a major commercial project. Other times, it’s a refresh for a fellow specialty contractor, like our recent project for Patriot Fire Protection. Our team performed a complete repaint of their annex. And it turned out great! But here's something we want you to know: We don’t just work with GCs. We work directly with business and building owners who want to invest in their space, protect their assets, and create a lasting impression. Because a fresh coat of paint does more than cover old layers. It restores, enhances, and extends the life of your space. If your building could use a refresh, you know who to call.

The last three years have been the hardest of my 22 years leading Scott Coatings. ? The challenges were relentless. ? Market shifts. ? Operational struggles. ? Tough decisions that tested everything I thought I knew about leadership. ? That’s why the Lily of the Valley is such a powerful reminder. ? This delicate flower thrives in the shadows, in the valleys—where others struggle. ? And there were moments we felt stuck in the valley, where the light was hard to find. ? But here’s what I’ve learned. ? Growth can happen in the valley. ? Strength is built in the struggle. ? And just like the Lily of the Valley, resilience blooms in harsh conditions. ? The best is yet to come. ? Because it’s not about avoiding hard times. ? It’s about blooming despite them.

Dinisha's journey in construction started with a deep curiosity about how projects go from an idea to a lasting structure. She earned her BTech in Civil Engineering from St. Peter's Engineering College. Then pursued a Masters in Construction Management at Arizona State University. She joined Scott Coatings as an estimator shortly after, learning the ins and outs of bidding in the commercial and industrial space. Her attention to detail and quick thinking stood out. Because of her impact and the quality of her work, she was recently promoted to Project Engineer. Now, she gets to take those numbers and plans and turn them into reality. This Women in Construction Week, we’re celebrating women like Dinisha. Not just for being in the industry. But for the skill, leadership, and excellence women bring to it every day. And we’re proud to have Dinisha on our team.

Data centers operate in tough conditions. Moisture, temperature swings, and chemical exposure put every surface to the test. And without the right coatings, corrosion sets in. Equipment deteriorates. Maintenance costs rise. A durable coatings system acts as a shield, protecting critical infrastructure from long-term damage. It prevents rust, resists chemicals, and holds up against extreme conditions. Because in a mission-critical facility, failure isn’t an option. Protection starts with the right coatings, applied the right way.

The construction industry is really hard. And we realized that it can take a toll on us. But one thing that changes that? Positivity. We've learned in the past year how different having a positive team and outlook is on our culture. And that's why we're building our culture by attracting positive people. AND Having a positive mindset. Because when you get a team of extremely positive people working together, it's contagious.

Painters follow orders. Partners bring ideas. That’s the difference you get with Scott Coatings. Every project has challenges: Tight deadlines. Complex surfaces. Unique requirements. A painter waits to be told what to do. A partner takes a step back, looks at the big picture, and asks, “What’s the best way to approach this?” We’re here to bring solutions. Need to balance durability with aesthetics? We’ll help you find the perfect coating. Facing unexpected site conditions? We’ll adapt and keep your project on track. We don’t just show up with paint. We show up with experience, insight, and a commitment to doing what’s right for your project. That’s what a true partner does. Because a fresh coat of paint is only part of the story. It’s the partnership that lasts.

Alex Garcia made a huge sacrifice. Spending an entire summer and part of fall in Oregon isn’t easy when your family is hundreds of miles away. But that's what Alex did. He led the charge to ensure every project was completed to the highest standards possible. And his leadership inspired his team to rise to the challenge and keep our clients happy, no matter the hurdles. Alex’s technical expertise and his ability to connect with people make him a leader worth following. And these qualities are what drive success at Scott Coatings. Because of people like Alex, Scott Coatings isn’t just a painting contractor. We're a high-performing team. And we’re lucky to have leaders who live up to that every single day. Thank you, Alex!

We completed a two-phased project for Zeroavia. They're a leader in hydrogen-electric, zero-emission aviation, setting the stage for a more sustainable world. Our industrial team prepared 50,000 square feet of flooring to a precise CSP3-4 specification. We then applied a durable, chemical-resistant Neogard epoxy/urethane system designed to handle the toughest aerospace environments. Every detail mattered in this project. And every step of the way, we ensured Zeroavia’s needs met the highest standards. Because we believe the work we do today helps build the future of tomorrow. And we’re proud to have played a small role in Zeroavia’s mission. Big things happen when you lay the groundwork right.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day isn’t just a day off. It’s an opportunity to reflect, give back, and take meaningful action. This day reminds us of the impact of service and the importance of striving for inclusion and equity in every part of our lives. Small and intentional steps can create lasting change in our communities and workplaces. Whether volunteering, mentoring, or simply listening, every effort matters. Dr. King’s legacy shows us that progress isn’t always fast. But it’s built on purpose and persistence. The fight for justice and equality is ongoing, calling us to do our part. Let’s use this day to honor his vision in a way that matters. Volunteer your time. Support a cause. Start a conversation that challenges the status quo. Because what we give back to the world defines who we are.

Some projects remind us what great teamwork can achieve. Terminal 106 is one of those projects. This 692,752-square-foot, two-story warehouse was built in partnership with Lease Crutcher Lewis for Trammell Crow Company and the Port of Seattle. Our team handled the interior and exterior painting and the floor joint sealants. But it wasn’t just about the work. It was about working alongside a team like Lewis, where collaboration and expertise came together to get the job done right. Terminal 106 reflects what’s possible when quality and partnership take the lead. It’s a job well done, built to last. #commercial #scottcoatings #industrial [Photo credit: Moris Moreno]
