I had a great time at the Ohio VC Fest, meeting founders, investors, and others in the ecosystem. Special thanks to Chris Smith, Kaleigh Gallagher, Phelan Spence, and other members of the JumpStart team doing amazing work. Especially had a great time running into Swarna Solanksi, who was our preemie baby Yoda (very wise, yet very, very young) during the inaugural Trail Blazer accelerator from JumpStart.
I had the great opportunity of speaking to JumpStart about my journey as an entrepreneur. It’s been a winding path from Suru-Lere, Lagos to here. But still a long way to go! We were fortunate enough to be a part of the inaugural JumpStart accelerator program (FastStart) and it was a tremendous learning experience. It also helped that we won the final pitch competition and some prize money to help advance the business. Making the transition from being a clinician to being an entrepreneur is not a straight forward process. Just like some career business people have to be un-corporated, we have to be un-scienced and un-clinicced to learn how to speak the language of all other stakeholders involved. Luckily, there’s a whole ecosystem in Northeast Ohio for people like us, including JumpStart, Bounce Innovation Hub and Project Medtech. It truly takes a village!
