“Lots of things are possible and many exciting things are possible”, and you get to hear about many of them at Cambridge Tech Week, ClimateTech Deep Dive. The presentation from Sam Goodall showed what the coming together of international hubs “4 hour away from London” can do in terms of galvanising the ClimateTech community. We heard great tips on how to get funding in this sector, mainly by not being a solution waiting for a problem and by honing in on your narrative. And we got 6 pitch presentations from the companies who are getting funded and changing the world one invention at a time: from producing oil from algae at HutanBio to extracting graphene ( which seems to make everything it mixes with 30% stronger) at Levidian. Note of caution, despite all the optimism that an event like this can generate, Emily Shuckburgh brought us back to earth reminding us we have a rapidly closing windows of opportunity to fix the Climate issue, and the innovations that will win are ultimately the ones that make financial sense. Much work to do!
