? Last Week Dr. Hill presented a second paper during the 2024 International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP) in Dresden, Germany ? Scientific Lightning Solutions is excited to share our latest research, which leverages our state-of-the-art instrumentation. The study focuses on high-speed video observations of downward negative lightning strikes that terminated on tall structures at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with a special emphasis on the attachment process. Key highlights: ? Close analysis of aborted, unconnected, and connecting upward positive leaders from tall structures. ? Examination of upward leader characteristics based on structure height and geometry. ? Precise measurements of striking distance, compared with common IEC formulations.
