The EPA's new PFAS regulations will require?billions in investment?to bring water systems into compliance—yet many small and underfunded utilities lack the resources to meet these standards. ? As?Arick Wierson, Storyteller?highlights in his article,?the financial and regulatory burden is growing, and private sector investment will be critical to ensuring clean, safe water for communities nationwide. ? Alexander Loucopoulos, Partner at Sciens Water, shares insights on the scale of the issue and the urgent need for funding solutions. As Alex told The Observer "Including capital and operating expenditures, we estimate that water utilities will need something on the order of $40-50 billion in investment to become EPA-compliant over the next decade.?Where will that money come from??In our view, the private sector has to play a role here.” ? What role do you think the private sector should play in addressing PFAS contamination??Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
